It's the second day of my thirty day writing challenge, and I'm happy to report that I remembered to do it! :) Feel free to join in! You can post your own answers in the comments, or feel free to drop a link to wherever you have written your own answers.(You can find the challenge I'm following here.)
Day 2: Write something that someone told you about yourself that you’ll never forget…
When I was in the eighth grade, I had an American history teacher who was apparently quite observant. We were all working independently on an assignment in class when he walked up to me and asked, "Is it alright if I embarrass you for a moment?"
I didn't have a clue how he could possibly embarrass me, so I responded, "Sure."
"Class," he began. "I just wanted you all to know that Ashley has been working very hard over here."
I raised my eyebrows. How was this supposed to be embarrassing? I always work hard, and was literally at the top of my class.
He looked back at me. "Do you know how I know you're working very hard, Ashley?"
"No." I really didn't have a clue where he was going with this.
"Whenever you are concentrating, really focusing, you stick your tongue out just a little bit."
The whole class laughed, and I'll admit, I was a tiny bit embarrassed. But I laughed along with them. "Wow. I actually didn't know that about myself, Mr. Fregeine."
And from that day on, I've known whenever I am really focused on something, because I really do stick my tongue out, just a little bit.
